Sciatica Relief

Looking for sciatica relief?

Let McCabe and Brady Physical Therapy Help!

Are you searching for sciatica relief? Disc herniations frequently cause pressure on the nerve, causing pain and inflammation of the sciatic nerve, resulting in sciatica. Sciatica (also known as lumbar radiculopathy) affects the nerves that exit the lower back and travel down the leg (L1-S2). (Femoral nerve radiculopathy in the front of the leg is far less common.)

What factors cause sciatica pain?

Sciatica is caused by irritation and or inflammation of the nerve roots that exit from the lower back’s lumbar spine region. A herniated disc, bone spurs from degenerative changes, or some type of injury are the most common causes of irritation. The sciatic nerve runs from your lower back down your legs to your feet. Sciatica pain is typically felt on one side/leg and affects people between the ages of 25 and 50, but it can affect all ages.

Although sciatica is commonly described as a pinched nerve, the majority of cases are due to inflammation. A compressed nerve in the lower back is a more serious condition that should be treated as soon as possible.

The good news is that the majority of people recover from sciatica. The bad news is that the majority of people will have more than one episode, and the condition will often worsen with each one. Our physical therapists in Warminster and New Britain, PA at McCabe and Brady Physical Therapy will address your symptoms, get to the root of the problem and provide you with the tools you need to resolve your pain and prevent future injury.
