Direct Access

Can’t get an appointment with your physician?  See us first.  See us today.  In Pennsylvania, you no longer need a prescription from your doctor before seeing a physical therapist.  If you are suffering from a musculoskeletal or neuromuscular ailment, you can be evaluated and treated for thirty days by a direct access credentialed physical therapist without a prescription.

Not sure whether your injury is appropriate for physical therapy?  Come in and let us evaluate you.  Our Therapists are certified through the state as direct access therapists.  If your condition is treatable, we will develop a program for you and you can start your recovery today.  If it is outside of our scope, we will provide you with the best referral options.

Research shows that direct access to physical therapy saves time and money.  Please read the attached summary from the American Physical Therapy Association to learn more. Click here!

Direct access treatment is now covered by most health insurance plans.

Conditions we commonly see under Pennsylvania’s direct access law include:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Shoulder pain including rotator cuff tears and impingement
  • Tendon injuries including Tennis and Golfers Elbow
  • Muscle strains
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Joint pain
  • Balance difficulty
  • Vertigo

How McCabe & Brady PT is Addressing COVID-19

During this difficult time, we want to assure you that we are still open and helping patients in a one on one environment. We are, of course, making sure all equipment and all tables are wiped after each use. We are also asking all patients to wear gloves throughout their treatment.

But, more importantly, our clinics are small in volume. This is not the norm in outpatient physical therapy. In addition, we are spreading the schedule more than usual to minimize the number of patients in the building at once. Those patients will be taken directly to separate private treatment rooms for the bulk of their therapy sessions. For treatment that must take place in a common area, we will stagger the timing to prevent overlap between patients.

Patients will not be entering a setting where they are sitting in a waiting room next to other patients and then escorted to a gym area with more patients. If you need physical therapy, please be confident that we are doing all we can to provide a safe environment.
